Join our dynamic Dance Intersect 2024 in Cape Town for an exciting new season! We are seeking talented and passionate creative minds.

 

Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography (ACDC) is pleased to announce an open call for local and international choreographers to participate in ACDC’s Dance Intersect 2024. Dance Intersect will take place at BAXTER THEATRE, Cape Town, South Africa from 6th to 8th of June 2024, and will feature a diverse range of contemporary dance works.

Next year's ACDC’s Dance Intersect 2024 seeks to stimulate the creation of artistic rationales and actions that broaden choreographic practice; that showcase innovative and dynamic approach to dance. We welcome proposals from emerging and established local and international artists, and encourage works that explore new forms of movement, collaboration, and experimentation.

 

Within this framework, we are seeking short-form works (10 -20 minutes), at their core, are attempting to find new ways, means, and methods for the creation of choreography and dance within our current socially context settings. 

 

*** ACDC also wants to give one or more creatives the opportunity and space to experiment and to present their own work. In this selection ACDC will select ***One or two South African based choreographer(s) to be financially supported over two months by ACDC to bring his/her idea to live; the commissioned choreographer(s) will be requested to choreograph a 10 minutes work.

 

To apply, please submit the following materials:

 

- A brief artist statement outlining your artistic vision and approach to dance;

- A description of the proposed work, including its thematic and conceptual framework, and its technical requirements;

- A short video excerpt (10 minutes) of the proposed work or a previous work;

- A short bio and resume/CV for the choreographer and/or company.

 

Applications must be submitted by November 20, 2023 to acdc@andersoncarvalho.info. Selected artists will be notified by December 18, 2023 and will be invited for an zoom interview.

Where: Rehearsal in Cape Town, South Africa.
