#RespectArtists — Case Update
After several weeks of waiting, #RespectArtists and ACDC can finally share an important update on the legal dispute between Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography and Stichting DOX ( Wij Zijn DOX).
The timeline:
• 30 June 2026: First court hearing. DOX continued to refuse full transparency and the requested funding documents.
• Court order (12 August 2026): The judge has now ordered DOX to provide the documents relating to the funding applications in which ACDC Dance Intersect was used.
• ACDC has had to pay €3,000 to obtain the documents.
• DOX requested a €1 million penalty to prevent ACDC from sharing information from the documents. The judge changed this to €5,000 per disclosure.
• Documents and funding records contradict previous statements made by Hildegard Draaijer, including the claim that the Netherlands would never fund the ACDC project, while DOX subsequently received funding for 2025–2028.
• DOX has published on their website its own statement about the case. ACDC disputes several claims in that statement and has documented evidence supporting its position.
• Most of the DOX staff involved previously have now left. The case is being handled by people who were not involved in the original circumstances.
• ACDC believes the Fair Practice Code has been breached.
• More artists have contacted ACDC describing similar experiences, including attempts to silence them. Many Dutch artists are afraid to speak publicly because they fear professional consequences and cannot afford to fight the system.
This is bigger than one case.
It is about transparency, accountability and the way artists are treated.
ACDC is continuing to work through the documents, including material connected to the South African side of the case, and will share verified information as the legal process allows.
The documents will speak for themselves.
