ACDC Open Call 2026: Dancers Wanted for 'Dance Intersect' in Cape Town

 

Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography (ACDC) is excited to announce a global open call for professional contemporary dancers to join its flagship project, ACDC Dance Intersect 2026, in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa.

 

Under the artistic direction of Brazilian-Dutch choreographer Anderson Carvalho, ACDC creates work at the intersection of diverse cultural and artistic practices. We are now seeking dynamic, technically proficient dancers who are eager to collaborate and push the boundaries of contemporary movement. This is a unique residency and performance opportunity for both South African and international artists to immerse themselves in a creative process led by an acclaimed international choreographer.

 

About the Project: ACDC Dance Intersect 2026

 

ACDC Dance Intersect is a platform dedicated to artistic fusion. For the 2026 season, selected dancers will develop and perform an original work in Cape Town. The project runs from July to October 2026, with a potential tour at the end of the season.

 

We are looking for dancers with:

Exceptional technical skills in contemporary dance;

With a good classical foundation;

A powerful and authentic stage presence;

A collaborative spirit and a willingness to explore new creative territories;

Professionalism and a strong work ethic.

 

Opportunity Details

 

1. Main Cast: Professional Dancers

Project Duration: July – October 2026 (Cape Town)

Rehearsals: 5 days per week (6 hours a day) + Outreach Program – Shifting Perspective (Intersection with the local community)

Compensation: ZAR 12,000 per month (South African rates) + accommodation provided.

 

2. Residency Programme: Additional Dancers

A select number of additional dancers will be chosen for a three-month residency (July-October 2026). This includes full participation in the creative process and performances in Cape Town.

 

Application & Audition Process

 

The selection will be a multi-stage process:

1.  Online Audition: Submit your application materials (see below).

2.  Zoom Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a virtual interview.

3.  Reference Checks: Final selection will include reference calls.

2. Motivation Letter (1-page maximum) + Two professional references from dance employers/ directors.

3.  Professional Headshot

4.  Show Reel Link: A video link showcasing your repertoire and performance quality.

5.  Solo Video Link: A 3-minute maximum video of a solo or improvisation.

Important Information & Dates

 

Application Deadline: Tuesday, January 1, 2026 (Midnight SAST)

Notification Date: Selected dancers will be informed by Friday, January 30, 2026.

Requirements for International Dancers: A valid passport (with a minimum of 2 years validity) and full availability from July 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026.
