Dance Intersect 2025
A cultural convergence of movement and meaning – Artscape 2 to 4 October 2025
Cape Town is gearing up to pulse to the rhythm of a global dance dialogue as ACDC Dance Intersect 2025 takes centre stage in early October. A cross-cultural celebration of classical and contemporary ballet, this landmark event brings together international and South African dance companies for an unforgettable series of performances from 2 – 4 October at Artscape Theatre. At the heart of Dance Intersect 2025 is a spirit of artistic exchange, with this year’s event bringing the Greek National Opera Ballet to South African soil for the first time, alongside acclaimed choreographers and companies from the Netherlands, Brazil, and across Africa.
Dance Intersect 2025 is an Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography initiative, is produced by Elvis Sibeko Studios in association with Artscape Theatre Centre. It continues its mission of creating a global meeting point for dance, showcasing both international companies and South African talent in a festival that celebrates movement without borders.

Fragmented Landscape is a contemporary dance work exploring how individuals and communities navigate fractured physical, emotional, and societal terrains. Through interdisciplinary storytelling—combining movement, sound, and visual design—the piece interrogates themes of environmental decay, digital dislocation, and cultural displacement.

The famous Les Nuits d’été cycle is one of Hector Berlioz’ most popular works. The leading French composer writes these six songs for voice and piano, to poetry by Théophile Gautier, striving to musically render, through his delicate melodies, love in its most idealised form.
Based on the song cycle of the same title, Konstantinos Rigos creates together with the GNO Ballet a work about love, loneliness, the quest, the journey. Gestures and shapes create a kaleidoscope of our individual inner summer.

Discord is inspired by the current political global landscape and its leaders. The piece centres on four power hungry politicians stuck on opposing sides of an ideological spectrum. In a world where truth is malleable to privilege, and reality is only as large as our personal phone sized algorithms -each politician plays for themselves in an ultimately losing game.
