Marta Reig Torres

Marta Reig Torres is a contemporary choreographer rooted in classical ballet.

Born in Valencia, Spain and living in the Netherlands. She has over 30 years of experience as a dancer and choreographer, including a decade with Dutch National Ballet and later Gulbenkian Ballet among others. She has developed a distinctive artistic voice that bridges classical tradition with contemporary practice and holds a Master of Arts in Choreography from Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and Fontys University of Fine Arts in Tilburg.

She has created work for Dutch National Ballet Junior Company, and produced among others by Korzo Productions in The Netherlands. Her work and projects have toured extensively in the Netherlands and abroad, with performances in France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.

Her work has been recognized for its precision and depth, described by Nederlandse Dansdagen as “a beautiful miniature, seemingly achieved with the sharp eye of a surgeon, delving into the muscles, sinews and psyche of men.”

Working at the meeting point of structure and freedom, Marta creates pieces in which movement becomes a space for presence, transformation, and choice. Her interdisciplinary projects include collaborations with visual artists, musicians, poets, and filmmakers, presented in venues such as the Kunsthal museum in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Centre del Carmen in Valencia (Spain).

Alongside her choreographic work, she is deeply engaged in education and artistic development. She teaches, choreographs and  coaches mainly at Codarts University of the Arts and has guested among others at ArtEZ University of the Arts, as well as companies including Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Conny Janssen Danst. Her work with dancers focuses on embodied, reflective processes that connect technical clarity, that support both technical excellence and deep personal exploration. These experiences invite dancers to reconnect with the essence of who they are, to move from a place of truth, depth, and clarity.
