The Core Message of #RespectArtists

Carvalho introduced this initiative to confront institutional habits that harm emerging dancers and creators. His message focuses on three main systemic shifts:

• Protecting Original Concepts: Challenging institutions and gatekeepers who leverage the ideas of young, emerging artists for their own institutional benefit.

• Reforming Funding Models: Opposing structures that use emerging talent to secure grant funding while keeping the artists' individual autonomy and professional growth highly restricted.

• Demanding True Reciprocity: Ensuring that creative collaborations are mutually beneficial rather than exploitative of the next generation of performers.
